Mystery - Babylon the Great
The History and Falsehoods of Romanism
Professor CAM Noble
The first sign of the end of the age as given by Jesus in Matthew 24:4-5, Mark 13:5-6 and Luke 21:8 was the sign of increasing deception. It heads the list of all the other signs of the end of the age and the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. No other age of history has seen so much deception as ours.
The increase of false religions, strange cults and confusion of tongues is amazing; but when the last chapter in history has been written, all these lesser deceptions will fade into the background of the master deception of the end time - the deception of the Mother of Harlots of Revelation 17.
In our Introduction we suggested that history will record that the Ecumenical Council of the Roman Church was the most cleverly planned piece of religious deception ever foisted upon an unsuspecting world; and we mentioned the succession of circumstances under which the church of Rome, called by John "Mystery, Babylon the Great" (Revelation 17:5), received the greatest opportunity to seize power worldwide.
Never before in the history of Romanism have such significant developments taken place as in the past few years. The Ecumenical Council at Rome paved the way by offering a new picture of Romanism to the world, but Rome itself, semper eadem, has not changed. Only her outward appearance gives that impression. In spite of the smooth talk of tolerance being dispensed for public consumption, her doctrines, her goals and her essential intolerance have remained what they always were.
